REDWOLF is the code name of an extensive circulator pump product development project conducted by Grundfos® spanning more than 5 years.

“New standards for high-technology and energy-efficient circulator pumps that perform much better than required by regulations have been attained. With pumps that meet the coming energy requirements of the EU. But we want to go even further”, said Peter Røpke, Group Executive Vice President for Business Development, he added “the product family will be the broadest and most service-friendly as well as the most easily integrated product series on the market”.

DEVELOPA teamed up with Grundfos® Discovery & Design, and the REDWOLF Product Management Team in an extensive global insights gathering task. Firstly, the task was to refresh and further develop a deep knowledge and understanding of unmet needs within the circulator pump market. DEVELOPA lead a cross-discipline team in observation of the entire downstream value chain in several major market territories. This team included Grundfos® designers and engineers, ensuring that those with high levels of involvement and responsibility towards the entire REDWOLF development task, experienced the most relevant unmet needs first-hand.

Back at Grundfos® Headquarters in Denmark, DEVELOPA worked together with Grundfos®, to integrate this knowledge enabling prioritised insights to influence the broader development team.

The first products to be launched are a much-improved version of ALPHA2, and a brand new MAGNA3. DEVELOPA was invited to team up once again with the REDWOLF Product Management Team. We developed, conducted, analysed and concluded on a program of extensive user interface tests for ALPHA2 and MAGNA3. This involved independent installers and service technicians in major markets across several continents. Knowledge gained in testing was further fed into the progressive development, bringing refinements leading to perfect interface designs.

In testing the technicians were simply in awe of the new and unique possibilities. Their respect for the technologies and engineering brilliance Grundfos® has implemented was obvious. As one expert installer put it, “This is why Grundfos® products lead the market; years in development delivering decades in service.”
